Malala Yousafzai was born 12 July 1997 in the Swat district of northwest Pakistan, where her father was a school owner, active in educational issues and humanitarian work. Malala Yousafzai became a Pakistani activist for female education and the youngest Nobel Prize laureate. She is known for human rights advocacy, especially the education of women and children in her native Swat Valley in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where the local Taliban had banned girls from attending school.
